Russia exxon mobil oil companies and the United States announced that the two sides had reached an agreement, a joint exploration and mining of the Russian arctic shelf oil and gas on August 30. This is the most important cooperation agreement on both sides since the "reset" of U.S.-Russian relations.
However,according to Russia's kommersant reported on September 29, the United States exxon mobil has forced to freeze the arctic shelf oil and gas development projects of cooperation with Russian oil company (Russian oil).Before the cancelling, it's project can only be suspended at the North Pole and the black sea. Russian oil promised to wait the American partner back.
It is said exxon mobil have significant political influence in the United States. It has been pushing for possibilities to continue doing business within the territory of Russia so Russia's oil did not appear in the first round of sanctions blacklist.
In the near term, the west will not change the practice of imposing sanctions on Russian oil and other energy industries. With the drop in oil prices and sanctions, it will increase the risk of operation of Russian economy undoubtedly.
