SCA Hygiene Products and Sappi applied at the German Federal German Cartel Office for approval for the formation of a joint company on 5 November. The companies thereby implemented the announcement made by SCA in September that by the turn of the year the company would bundle wood procurement in Germany with a partner company from the paper industry in a newly formed joint venture. Roughly three months prior to that, SCA had taken over the remaining shares in the German wood-procurement organisation Thosca from the Finnish Metsä Group.
